OUR NOTES The Château de la Roulerie is located in the heart of the vineyards of Anjou, in the town of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. At its head, Philippe Germain. He farms about twenty hectares in organic farming with wines in the appellations Anjou and Coteaux-du-Layon, the latter being renowned for its sweet and mellow wines. He perpetuates gestures and a rigorous know-how to express with precision and delicacy chenin, emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley that particularly affectionates Philippe Germain. And it’s not only the wines that are worth seeing but also the property, listed on the circuit of the old houses of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné. Surrounded by a pleasant park, the castle enjoys a superb view of the valley of St Aubin. Made 100% from Cabernet Franc grapes grown on the estate, it is young, fruity, vibrant wine, with soft tannins, meant to be enjoyed immediately. In summer can be enjoyed lightly chilled. Perfect with white meat dishes or as an aperitif red. WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING “The 2017 Languedoc shows more fruity concentration than the 2016, adding cherries to the crushed-stone notes found on the nose. It's fresh, vibrant and juicy, with silky tannins and a lip-smacking finish. A blend of 55% Syrah, 25% Carignan and 20% Grenache, it rates high for sheer drinkability and value over the next couple of years.” Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate OUR NOTES "Being demanding, make choices and pursue them." Gregory and François share these common values and skills that they learned from their previous experiences. 2001 is the first vintage of Maison Hecht & Bannier. Following visit of hundreds of domains, days and nights of arguing conversations and wonders about their blends, Gregory Hecht and François Bannier bottle at the end of 2003 four cuvées of Southern France appellations: Minervois, Saint Chinian, Faugères and Côtes du Roussillon. Hardly a hundred cases of each wine, the miserable profit of a rigorous and drastic selection of each varietal on every best location. “Lovely spoon negoce” pokes a grower whom they buy two precious hectoliters of Mouvèdre for the Faugères blend. Following years will enjoy the blossoming of new cuvées and wines spreading out alongside the Mediterranean arc. Core principles remain unchanged: blending the fruit of several growers within an appellation, long ageing, severe work on blends to offer under a single brand the quintessenciel expression of each AOP. Craft hand-made negoce, boutique wines. Tasters may sometimes be overwhelmed by the wines but these cuvées claim their style and signature. “Fascinating, ambitious, accomplished new negociant” wrote Jancis Robinson in 2005 with other famous wine writers who early enable a tremendous success of the company in USA, Canada and Japan. OUR NOTES This vintage shows the classical characteristics of Saint Emilion, with plum, cherry, bramble fruit and tobacco. Medium bodied, the soft textured tannins are still present in good measure and well balanced with the acidity that brings to a persistent finish. Château Simard’s vineyard has excellent exposure and predominantly clay soil mixed with sand and gravel. Château Simard’s classical, refined style can be attributed not only to its fine vineyard location but also to its traditional winemaking practices. The blend each year reflects the vineyard’s makeup of Merlot blended with Cabernet Franc. Elegant and balanced upon release, Château Simard expresses its deep roots in Bordeaux’s famous Right Bank. The wines from Saint-Émilion are known for being sumptuous, with smooth tannins and the ability to age over long periods of time. Château Simard produces only one wine. It is classically elegant, with a refined style that results not only from the excellent vineyard location, but also from traditional winemaking methods employed at the château. WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING “There are fully 60,000 bottles of the 2017 Mercurey Blanc, a pretty wine that bursts from the glass with scents of pear, green apple and pastry cream, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and fleshy palate that's buttressed by racy acidity and concludes with a mouthwatering finish.”William Kelley, Wine Advocate OUR NOTES Built in the early 18th Century, Château de Chamirey has a unique position on the Mercurey vineyard. The Domaine consists in 37 hectares reflecting the diverse soils and micro climates found within the appellation. In 1934, the Marquis de Jouennes, as a forerunner, decides to bottle the wines of Château de Chamirey, at the Domaine. Then, his son-in-law, Bertrand Devillard, carried on his work and extended the Domaine in the best terroirs of Mercurey, to reach its present size of 95 acres. WHAT THE WINEMAKERS ARE SAYING “Bright ruby colour with purple nuances. Intense and refreshing aromas of ripe berries (raspberries and cherries) mixed with liquorice. Complex and well-structured. Deep and tight texture. Well-integrated tannins. Long and refreshing aftertaste.” Domaine Chanson Père et Fils OUR NOTES One of the great historic producers of Burgundy, founded in 1750 and purchased by the Champagne Bollinger family in 1999, Chanson today is one of only six producers in Burgundy still remaining from the 18th century and earlier. Chanson has been meticulously managed since 1999 to become one of Burgundy’s top estates. Domaine Chanson’s extensive holdings, and the extraordinary rigor and precision of their approach in the vineyards and cellars, result in wines of individuality and quality. Chanson owns 111 acres in Burgundy, 62 of which are in Beaune, including their monopole Clos des Fèves, and important holdings of Clos des Mouches and Corton Vergennes. Requiring diligent viticulture and perfect ripeness, they vinify all whites and reds 100% whole cluster at their state of the art facility on the outskirts of Beaune.
